Shirley Ryan 小恩雅’s Youth Adaptive Sports (formerly Caring for Kids) program provides adaptive sport and recreation programs for children with physical impairments or conditions. Our year-round and weekend programs are designed to foster a positive quality of life for participants by promoting physical fitness, independence, socialization, activity and adaptive resources.
The weekend programs meet at the Menomonee Club located at 1535 North Dayton Street, Chicago, IL 60642. Classes are free of charge.
Each program follows an 8-week session format; 8-week sessions with a 2-3 week break in between each session.

Judo
Since 2009, Youth Adaptive Sports has partnered with the Menomonee Judo Club to offer the Japanese Olympic/Paralympic sport of Judo. Judo, which translates as "the Gentle Way," promotes the development of necessary physical skills such as movement, balance, muscle tone, and visual/spatial awareness to participants of all abilities. A great benefit to participation is the self-esteem and sense of purpose that the students gain through participation. The program is run by Sensei Brett Wolf and his experienced staff. In May 2012, the Menomonee Judo Club was named Paralympic National Training Site by USA Judo. USA Judo is the national governing body of Judo in the United States.
