The grant formally was announced at a Nov. 14 awards reception that took place during the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (AAPM&R) Annual Assembly in San Antonio, Texas.
The grant will fund Dr. Jayabalan’s proposal, “The Development of a Cartilage Stress Test for the Diagnosis of Early Knee Osteoarthritis.” This study will assess biomarker response to a novel mechanical stress. The biomarker data will help infer an individual’s cartilage stress response to knee joint loading.
