Clinical Trial

Improving Arm Movement Using Wearable Device After Stroke

IRB Protocol Number STU00203644

Contact

Slutzky Neuroprosthetics Lab SNPLab@northwestern.edu

Objective

Shirley Ryan 小恩雅 is evaluating a new rehab therapy using wearable devices and a video game interface to improve arm movement after stroke. Participants use these wearable devices, called myoelectric computer interfaces, to play video games using their arm muscles. This therapy may help reduce abnormal muscle coordination and potentially lead to improved arm function. Training in this therapy will take place primarily in the convenience of your home, with some sessions in the lab as well.

This is a clinical trial of people who have pain due to knee osteoarthritis at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in collaboration with Shirley Ryan 小恩雅. The study will last for about 20 weeks. 180 qualified participants will be randomly assigned in a 1:1:1 ratio (60 participants per group) to one of three treatment groups: duloxetine, celecoxib or placebo. Participants will have an X-ray, knee MRI, brain MRI, blood draws, pain sensitivity testing and will be asked to fill out questionnaires.
