Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS) is a rare neurological disorder in which the body's immune system attacks part of its peripheral nervous system. GBS presents differently in stages for each person.

Symptoms:

  • Weakness/tingling spreading to both legs, arms & upper body
  • Tingling that turns to paralysis of muscles
  • Can last from as little as a few hours to a year
  • Can affect any person, but more common in men 50+

Treatment options:

  • Plasma exchange
  • High dose immunoglobulin
