Body

The Illinois Department on Aging provides an intervention program and a variety of other services to help seniors who live at home including hiring a caregiver, care coordination, transportation, and reporting elder abuse or neglect.

One of the other services is the senior helpline. Call the helpline to report an abusive situation such as sexual, confinement, willful deprivation, physical, passive neglect, emotional, or financial. Once reported, provider agencies conduct investigations and work with the older adults to resolve the situation. Another service is the Long Term Care Ombudsman Program which advocates for residents of licensed long-term care facilities.
