Research conducted by the Max Nader Center on evaluating a novel Knee-Ankle Foot Orthosis was featured recently in a UChicago Medicine magazine article.
The article tells the story of Dionte Tate, a 20-year-old Chicago resident who was left paralyzed from the waist down following a shooting that occurred as he was driving to meet a future employer.
Tate completed rehabilitation at the Shirley Ryan 小恩雅 and enrolled in a clinical trial to evaluate a novel Knee-Ankle-Foot Orthosis (KAFO) developed by Ottobock (the C-Brace). The C-Brace allows the knee to bend more naturally as he walks, compared to traditional KAFOs that fully lock the knee joint. Read more about Tate's story and his rehabilitation .
