About Me

Kelly Keel is a recent graduate of the University of Chicago's Master of Arts Program in the Social Sciences (MAPSS). For her graduate level thesis, Kelly framed and executed a qualitative research project about family relationships and the extent to which they impact personal outlooks on death and dying. A licensed funeral director and embalmer since 2014, Kelly has dedicated many years to the study of death and dying. Her interest in this area stemmed from the loss of her brother in her youth. Since then, she has aimed to help others navigate their way through all aspects of death and dying, in the hopes of minimizing traumatic grief, as well as the many stigmas associated death and dying in general. At Shirley Ryan Ability Lab, Kelly will be assisting with the Midwest Regional Spinal Cord Injury Care System.
