The Perez Lab team exclusively offers FREE hand training for ANYONE with a neurological condition that affects the function of their hands, including but not limited to: Spinal Cord Injury (Any level), Stroke, MS, Parkinson's, ALS, etc. We use a combination of games, cutting-edge robotics, sensors, and upper body exercises to help people improve the function of their hands in terms of pinching, grasping, and dexterity. At a March 27 ceremony in Washington, D.C., Brenna Argall, PhD, research scientist and director, argallab, Shirley Ryan 小恩雅, was inducted into the American Institute for Medical and Biomedical Engineering’s (AIMBE) College of Fellows. The AIMBE College of Fellows is a unique honor, recognizing the top 2 percent of medical and biological engineers in the country.

In novel research led by scientists at Shirley Ryan 小恩雅, patients with spinal cord injury who received non-invasive electrical stimulation simultaneously targeting motor neurons in the arms and legs followed by physical therapy had lasting improvements in walking and grasping.

PAPER: Robotic locomotor training more cost-effective than conventional training for patients with complete spinal cord injuries
For patients with spinal cord injuries (SCI), locomotor training to improve or recover motor function after injury is a cornerstone of rehabilitation therapy. A new study reported in the Journal of NeuroEngineering and Rehabilitation found that the cost-effectiveness of the type of locomotor training received – traditional versus robotic – depends on the severity of the injury.
