Founded in 1995, the Donnelley Ethics Program has evolved over the years to meet new challenges and address our changing health care environment. In January 2020, Preya S. Tarsney, JD, HEC-C, became the Director of the ethics program and broadened its focus on disability, clinical and research ethics. Looking forward, the Donnelley Ethics Program is committed to raising awareness of ethical issues and providing services to patients and staff.

Clinical Ethics
- Clinical ethics consultations to help clarify issues, options, or values involved in specific cases
- Educational sessions and activities for staff including Schwartz Center Rounds?, grand rounds, and lectures
Research Ethics
- Research ethics consultation for specific issues such as research study design or ethical concerns regarding subjects, etc.
- Education for staff including conferences, journal clubs, and lectures
Hospital Ethics Committee
- The Hospital Ethics Committee is a multi-disciplinary body focused on addressing ethical concerns that involve broad organizational issues or trends. These issues may be related to policies, allocation of resources, or conflicts of interest, among others.
Accreditation and Quality Improvement
- The DEP is responsible for addressing patient rights issues for accreditation and quality improvement purposes.
